Norwegian Joy Returns from $50 Million Refit

Norwegian Joy has return to her cruising schedule after an extensive $50 million renovation. The ship which was launched in 2017 had been based in Asia, will begin the first of her Alaska sailings from Seattle on 4 May. She will be joining her sister ship Norwegian Bliss and smaller fleet mate Norwegian Jewel as part of Norweigan Cruise Line Alaska-based ships. Before commence service she will host media & travel partners on a number of preview cruises.
The lines president & CEO Andy Stuart commented "We are so happy to bring Norwegian Joy to North America to sail alongside her sister ship, Norwegian Bliss, These preview cruises will allow us to properly showcase this innovative ship to members of the media as well as our travel partners, who will experience firsthand how incredible she is."
The rennovation has seen a number of enhancements made to the ship, including the switch of several restaurants that had been created specifically for the Chinese market to many of the popular Norwegian Cruise Line favorites including Le Bistro, Q, La Cucina, Food Republic and Teppanyaki. In addition the onboard go-kart track, which is the first ever at sea has also been enhanced.
With both sister ships, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Joy being based in Alaska it allows customers to experience similar ships that differ in a few notable ways. Norwegian Joy has the Galaxy Pavilion, a virtual reality arcade with several simulator rides (hang gliding, race car, Star Wars pod racer, etc) as well as Concierge Class cabins, which come with 24/7 concierge services and a private dining room. In addition, Tony Award-nominated musical "Footloose" will also be the headline theatre show onboard.
Once she has completed her Alaska sailing season, Norwegian Joy will relocate and offer Panama Canal sailings in October & weekly sailings to the Mexican Riviera in November. 2021 will see the ship relocate to the US East Coast offering departures from New York City in April, sailing seven-night Bermuda and five-night Canada and New England trips.
