Typical cruise durations for a Western Caribbean cruise ranges between 5 to 14+ nights visiting ports in Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica, Belize, Costa Rica & Grand Cayman. Many Western Caribbean cruises tend to start from US ports in Florida, Glavaston & New Orleans - all of which will require you to have at least one night stay in these destinations before you cruise starts due to the flight times arriving from the UK.

With the expansion of the Panama Canal completely, we are seeing more Western Caribbean cruises including this man-made wonder. Many of our cruise line partners including Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises & Holland America all sending their larger ships here, which gives you an even wider range of itineraries. 

Typical cruise durations for an Eastern Caribbean range from 3 to 7+ nights visiting the idyllic islands of  Antigua, St Thomas, Dominican Republic, Grand Turk & Tortola. In addition to these ports most Eastern Caribbean cruises also include stops in Key West & the Bahamas - in fact there are a number of cruise lines that have their own private islands in the Bahamas including Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises,  Holland America & Virgin Voyages.

Some of these cruise lines do offer shorter 3-5 night Bahamas cruises that incorporate these private islands with overnight stays or multiple visits - giving you more opportunity to enjoy thier unique features and facilities. 

As with Western Caribbean cruises, most Eastern Caribbean & Bahamas cruises start from US ports of Miami, Fort Lauderdale & Port Canaveral - this port being the closest to Orlando, so you can combine time at the parks before you cruise - as well as San Juan in Puerto Rico.  Again these will require you to have at least one night stay in these destinations before you cruise starts due to the flight times arriving from the UK.

Southern Caribbean cruises are normally longer in duration as they have to travel further for the US Ports of Miami, Fort Lauderdale & Tampa. Typically a Southern Caribbean cruise ranges between 12 to 14+ nights visiting the islands of Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, Curacao, Bonaire & Aruba - on occasion they do also stop in Colombia as well. .

Another alternative to the US ports, some Southern Caribbean cruises also depart from San Juan in Puerto Rico. As they have less distance to travel the duration can vary between 7 to 11 nights visiting all the ports mentioned above. There are two things to bear in mind should you look to sail from San Juan. Firstly, there are no direct flights from the UK, so it will involve indirect flights via the US or Spain. Secondly, as Puerto Rico is classed as a US terriority you will be required to obtain an ESTA before you travel here.

As with all Caribbean cruises from US ports and San Juan you will have at least one night stay in these destinations before you cruise starts due to the flight times arriving from the UK

If you don't fancy cruising from a US port or San Juan, then don't worry there is another option of a Caribbean cruise departing from Barbados, Antigua or St Kitts. Typically these Caribbean cruises are offered as fly-cruise option direct from the UK and are available as either a 14 night cruise itinerary.

Due to the location of Barbados, Antigua & St Kitts is does mean that many itineraries visit the Southern & Eastern Caribbean islands as mentioned above and tend to avoid the US terriories of Puerto Rico & US Virgin Islands so you wouldn't require an ESTA.
