Carnival knew exactly what we were doing when they named this ship Carnival Magic - and we are sure you will agree.
At 1,004 feet, this one continued the Dream class tradition of large-scale, bow-to-stern cruise ship fun including the food-and-entertainment space Ocean Plaza, the splashy stylings of Carnival WaterWorks... and The Lanai, a convenient, scenic half-mile outdoor wraparound promenade deck. In other words, a cruise on Carnival Magic has no shortage of its namesake charm!
It's no surprise Carnival Magic debuted all-new ways to have a good time onboard, and continues to prove it with the outdoor fitness-and-fun of SportSquare, featuring the world's first ropes course at sea. This is also the ship that introduced the world to Cucina del Capitano, which serves up Italian favourites fit for a captain.
Who can forget their first taste of RedFrog Pub, with its laid back, not-a-worry-to-be-found atmosphere... plus its exclusive, tasty, not-a-drop-to-be-found (on land, that is) beer, ThirstyFrog Red. And if you wanted to visit the original Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse... guess which ship you'd check out!
Dining Venues on Carnival Magic
Cucina Del Captiano
The iconic red and white checkered tablecloth in your neighborhood Italian trattoria means you are in for a certain kind of dining experience. At a table such as this, wh is gathered around is just as important as what's being served, and we see these as the two halves of the experience at Cucina del Capitano. Atop our tablecloth you will enjoy courses of dishes - antipasti, entrees, pasta and desserts - inspired by Carnivals Italian captains' and officers' childhoods.
It's all served famiglia-style, because we know that sharing tales of your day's adventures is best with large plates and great company. Speaking of which, the walls are not only adorned with old snapshots from the crew's family albums, but you might even find the captain dining at his own table in the corner...all evidence that the rustic Italian country-home atmosphere you see is no facade.
Reservations aren't required, but to get the best seating and times, we recommend making a reservation. You can make one online after booking your cruise.
BlueIguana Cantina
Nobody knows Mexican dining like a blue iguana. Well, the blue iguana, at least. That's why it should come as no surprise that the BlueIguana Cantina features freshly made tacos and burritos stuffed specially for your enjoyment. Throw homemade tortillas and salsa into the mix, and you have a casual dining experience that will make you say " mmmm" (which is actually Iguanese for "more, please").
The Steakhouse
Turn your special vacation in the direction of delicious by booking a table for an unforgettably delectable evening at the onboard Steakhouse. With menus featuring mouth watering premium cuts of beef cooked to your exact specifications, as well as a fantastic selection of seafood, entrees, gourmet appetizers - even a wine list that got the nod from Wine Spectator. (They actually call it the Award of Excellence.) The Steakhouse's atmosphere pairs remarkably well with, and perhaps even enhances, the culinary creations of our gourmet chefs.
Tip: Like any destination restaurant, reservations are highly recommended, and can be made online after booking your cruise. Your meal is at an additional charge and includes an appetizer, salad, entree, side, and dessert.
Entertainment Facilities on Carnival Magic
The Waterworks
Wanna splish, splash the whole day away? Head on over to WaterWorks, Carnival Magic's onboard waterpark. First up, there is the Twister Waterslide, hundreds of feet of spiralling awesomeness that starts you off high in the air and gets you down low with one of the fastest, wettest rides you will find anywhere.
Select ships have side-by-side racing slides, which make serious competition seriously fun. Wear your speed suit for Speedway Splash, which features hundreds of feet of racing action, plus special lighting effects you will experience on the road to victory. DrainPipe ends with one major swirl of a finish, while PowerDrencher takes soaking seriously, just picture the biggest bucket of water you have ever seen, raining down on you from above. This isn't just for kids, the young at heart are encouraged to zoom and splash around too!
The RedFrog Pub
You can enjoy a pint served with Caribbean atmosphere at RedFrog Pubs across the Carnival fleet. But at one location - RedFrog Pub & Brewery aboard Carnival Vista - you will find North America's first-ever brewery at sea. It's right there inside the pub!
Beer connoisseurs can be found delighting their palates with complex and delicious pints of craft-brew exclusives made just feet away by our onboard brewmaster, brews like ThirstyFrog Port Hoppin' IPA, Caribbean Wheat, Java Stout and American Pale Ale. Plus, the brewmaster is always dreaming up unique, small-batch seasonal brews - take the brewery tour and find out more about how they do it at sea!
Playlist Productions
Everyone has those perfect songs that never fail to get them moving. Playlist Productions, Carnivals' onboard theatre team brings lists like yours to life! Your favourites become full-blown musical productions featuring singers and dancers bringing down the house. Shows vary by ship, but there is a playlist for every music lover. Need a few examples? How about the spicy sounds of Amor Cubano, the movie-magic soundtrack of FLICK, or Vintage Pop with its 20s-jazz-meets-modern-hits?
Release your inner rock-n-roll patriot during America Rocks! Enter the centre of groove with the passionate Heart of Soul. Feel the arena-shaking sounds of Epic Rock, the piano-pounding sounds of 88 Keys, the totally bad-meaning-good 80s Pop to the Max, plus the funky, sophisticated and not-at-all exclusive Studio VIP, where everyone is welcome to come and get down!
The Ropes Course
The chance to complete an awesome challenge, high above it all! now that's what you want in a good ropes course. An awesome ropes course, however, will let you do all that with a cool sea breeze and a view to match! Not sure that navigating a high-up-there challenge is for you? Did we mention that on this one you'll be safely strapped in, emboldening you to take on the kinds of challenges you may not normally feel up to?
Here everyone - even kids - become thrill-seekers, testing their ability to make their way around the course, which features two levels of challenge, letting you increase or decrease the toughness as you go. So take to the sky!
Camp Ocean
The little ones can enjoy the best parts of summer camp, year-round aboard their Carnival cruise. At Camp Ocean kids will have a blast in supervised, age-based groups and give each a cool marine-life label: Penguins (2 to 5 years), Stingrays (6 to 8 years) and Sharks (9 to 11 years). Together with their group they will enjoy tons of fun-filled, age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, songs, games, toys, dancing, movies and video games. When comes to mealtime, kids eat together and get their own menus with back-on-land favs like mac & cheese, chicken nuggets and more. The whole time, Carnival's experienced counsellors will be there to make sure everyone in these small groups has an amazing time. Plus, when the sun goes down it's time for Night Owls (fees apply to use this service), but kids get to stay up late having fun while their parents also enjoy themselves well into the night.
Suess at Sea:From the whimsical and always wonderful world of Dr. Seuss comes Cats in Hats, Fish Red and Blue, and both kinds of Things - 1 and 2. And they are all coming to a Carnival cruise near you as the world of Dr. Seuss leaps off the page and onto Seuss at Sea.
Dr. Seuss's timeless stories are the kind kids memorize, and this is the kind of cruise you will remember for a lifetime. The whole family will still enjoy all the classic Carnival activities, but the littlest ones, and their families, will also enjoy an all-new, extra-special experience as the fantastical world of Dr. Seuss comes to life around them.
